Meet the Founder.

Hi, I'm Eli Gabbay, founder of Long Covid United. My passion for helping those suffering from Long Covid stems from personal pain after undergoing Long Covid for one year from 2022 to 2023.

While my journey to recovery began as a struggle, my experience evolved into a catalyst for change — a challenging time that sparked my interest in helping others struggling with the same disease.

This is why I created Long Covid United, to provide a space for those suffering from Long Covid to be able to join forces in communication, research, and outreach to facilitate clinical care and ultimately, a cure.

Our Founder's Story.

I experienced Long Covid from October 2022 to October 2023. During this time, I dealt with various Long Covid symptoms, but the most severe were brain fog and fatigue. The condition made me feel like a shell of myself. I would lose focus reading after one page. I would forget where I placed items throughout the day. Most days, I could not remember what I had planned to get done.

I also struggled with fatigue. I could not play soccer or exercise, and I had to increase my caffeine intake to stay awake. I stopped seeing friends because I couldn't maintain a conversation while battling brain fog.

The loneliness I felt was the most difficult aspect of Long Covid. I didn't know anyone else with Long Covid, and I thought no one could understand what I was going through. When I discussed symptoms with peers, I often heard, “Have you tried having a coffee?” Besides my family and friends, it felt as if no one was aware of Long Covid’s existence.

The mental and emotional strain I experienced during Long Covid and the lack of awareness I saw surrounding the illness in my community is what urged me to start Long Covid United, an organization that provides a voice for those suffering from the same condition.
